Samuelson opens up a valid discussion when he makes the point that Liberal Arts educations are often considered for the elite only. Many people have lost sight of the importance of the Liberal Arts and this is the point Samuelson is making with his article. People generally just see importance in the education they need to be a doctor or a lawyer and do not value the education that makes them grow as a person. In other words, this liberal thought in society is critical for all free people to thrive.
