“Why I Teach Plato to Plumbers”
explains the meaning of a liberal arts education. It is not to make yourself as
wealthy as possible, for you would be missing the point of an education “worthy
of free men.” It is considered greatly beneficial to have an education that
helps expand your mind and create a new idea of learning within yourself. These
arts are not considered inclusive to those who are considered to be in
intellectual fields, but is also important to blue collar workers and other
laborers as it gives them the ability to think for themselves and fulfill the
meaning of the liberal arts.
